I have been a portrait artist for more than twenty years. I have taken commissions for paintings from elegant to simple, from wedding gowns to blue jeans. I have done portraits that include horses, pets, cars and planes.
My requirements for accepting a commission are simple. I have to be able to visit with the person the portrait is of. I don't paint anyone 50 lbs. lighter or 20 years younger than they currently are. I also don't paint from 20 year old photos or any that are black and white. I prefer to take my own photos but can work from very good, quality color pictures that are at least 5x7 or larger.
I can paint portraits from a live sitting. However, I've found most people don't have time to sit for 60 to 80 hours while I paint their portrait. I usually prefer to work from a composite of many photos to get the look I'm trying to achieve and the best possible finished painting.
The cost to commission a portrait starts at $1,200.00 (portrait on the right).
The portrait on the left is $3,500.00.
