This is where you'll be able to see what I'm working on. With step by step explanations of how and what it is I'm doing. I'm going to be working on every manner of subject from horses and portraits to rural America and the military.

Your questions are always welcome. If there is something you would like to know along the way, just send me an email and I'll do the best I can to answer it.

Starting out:

My palette is a simple one. I use burnt and raw umber, burnt and raw sienna, yellow ochre, ivory black, titanium white, cerulean blue, prussian blue, Naples yellow, cadmium red deep, cadmium yellow deep and chrome yellow. I use liquin as my drying medium. I do not buy any greens, purples, flesh tones or any of the other of the dozens of shades of browns. Any colors I can't mix with this palette, I won't paint with anyway.

My brushes are all long handled, synthetic bristled brushes. Long handles give me a better balance when I'm painting detailed work. That's because when I'm holding a brush, I am using very little, if any, pressure.

I have 8 or 10 large varnish brushes in my box that I use for blending, and smoothing of brush strokes. Again, these are synthetic bristled. The only hog hair brushes I use are the 1 in. size and a couple smaller sizes I use for scrubbing paint into a surface.
