Step #2

I've put in my trees. They are simple brush strokes of color. I don't want to put any detail in them. If I start trying to make them look too much like trees, people viewing this piece are going to notice them when they look at it. I want the background to be noticed last, after they've seen what I want them to see. The wolf.

My palette hasn't changed any. My tree colors are raw umber, ivory black, and titanium white. With touches of Indian red, raw sienna and a little cerulean blue for the shadows. I'm careful not to add too much color. I want to keep the background rather plain.
